Success Story

Connecticut Judicial Branch

Dating back to 1636, the Connecticut Judicial Branch is one of the oldest judiciary institutions in the country. Enacted to uphold the laws of the State of Connecticut, it has evolved to encompass numerous divisions that are concerned with the disposition of justice at the trial and appellate levels. As part of the administrative division, data processing provides a wide array of centrally conducted, statewide services for the benefit of all divisions within the Judicial Branch. It is within the data processing division that ISE's EnterpriseSCHEDULE has become a integral part of the administration of justice in the State of Connecticut.

According to System Manager Tom Francis, the data processing division of the Connecticut Judicial Branch were in a bind a short time ago when they turned to ISE to convert their automated job scheduling tasks from Target Batch to EnterpriseSCHEDULE.  With their department in transition into a state of the art data center with 6 GS160 Series systems utilizing 8 processors each, the staff reviewed several alternatives to Target Batch to take advantage of their vast computing power. After a rigorous evaluation process, they reached a consensus that EnterpriseSCHEDULE offered the best scheduling package for their needs.

“I’m very impressed with the software and it suits the department needs quite well".

The operations of the data center run the gamete of judicial administration from the processing of criminal letters to sending out court notices statewide. They are also in charge of the issuance of jury reminders and juror handbooks to prospective jurors throughout the entire State of Connecticut. The timely processing of these tasks is vital to the delivery of important court documents via courier. If EnterpriseSCHEDULE doesn't do it's job, the entire judicial process could break down.

Utilizing EnterpriseSCHEDULE, more than 5000 daily jobs have been automated to process data that is vital to the Judicial System throughout the state. A large part of the processing involves criminal matters, but EnterpriseSCHEDULE is also used in civil, bar master (involving lawyers), bail proceedings, law enforcement contacts, jury duty summons and CIB (Criminal Infractions Bureau) operations.  Additionally, the department uses EnterpriseSCHEDULE to process in-house operations such as payroll and accounting.

Tom has voiced his praise for EnterpriseSCHEDULE as a package that meets his requirements on a daily basis. Following a smooth conversion process from Target Batch he is "very impressed" with the software and feels it suits the department's needs quite well. Tom is especially happy with the additional features EnterpriseSCHEDULE provides beyond Target Batch's capabilities including easy implementation of calendar based scheduling. But perhaps the greatest proof of his satisfaction is the distinct lack of technical support calls he has needed to place since his installation
