Success Story
JCC ConsultingJCC is a consulting firm specializing in database and client/server solutions. JCC combines wide-ranging practical experience with solid theoretical background and research experience. JCC’s clients range from smaller enterprises to those in Fortune 100 companies in fields as diverse as energy, manufacturing, financial instrument trading, retail merchandising, computer hardware, computer software, education, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and transportation. JCC is the developer of JCC LogMiner Loader™ software used to transmit the changes from an Rdb™ database to other data stores such as Oracle, XML and Tuxedo.
In a recent conversation with two of JCC’s top consultants, Jeff Jalbert and Jeff Haidet, we discussed how ISE’s EnterpriseSCHEDULE is used for both their own internal development and production testing and by one of their own customers.
Using EnterpriseSCHEDULE as the tool to test their loader software, JCC runs a set of around 100 jobs that cycles every 50 minutes on an Alpha ES40 with 4 CPUs. The test is so CPU intensive that it regularly maxes out the CPU at 100% and has been measured to around 4000 IO’s per second. In fact, Jeff Jalbert referred to it as “torture testing the loader”, but they report that EnterpriseSCHEDULE does the “heavy lifting” by continuing the processing of jobs despite the CPU saturation. JCC also uses the scheduler to automatically synchronize their production database with their development database as a way to provide failover protection as well as for routine system jobs.
“Once we got it converted, we could see the actual schedule so much better”

As a consulting firm, JCC also assists their client South Central Power with their implementation of EnterpriseSCHEDULE. Their goal was to make the eastern Ohio utility company into a nearly “lights out” operation and it appears they have succeeded. JCC automated all aspects of customer business including customer info, billing and outage management and usage tracking using EnterpriseSCHEDULE. With over 700 jobs running daily (some multiple times), EnterpriseSCHEDULE takes a huge burden off of the IT staff.
Jeff and Jeff were impressed by how, once they converted their jobs from their previous scheduler and actually worked with the graphical Windows layouts, they were able to do so much more. Jeff Jalbert commented, “Once we got it converted, we could see the actual schedule so much better”. He also said that using programmable resource variables included in EnterpriseSCHEDULE, they were “able to remove a lot of unnecessary jobs and streamline the job flow so much better”. Overall the two Jeff’s say they are “happy campers”.
