Success Story
Abilene Christian UniversityMore than 4,700 students, including about 500 graduate students, come to Abilene Christian University from 50 states and 60 countries. Students are served by about 200 faculty members who focus on high-quality teaching, scholarship and service. The student/faculty ratio is 17:1. The faculty and administrators are actively involved as leaders and presenters in many national professional associations, and ACU is an active member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. Since ACU’s teachers know their students so well and often serve as mentors, they are able to provide excellent references to medical schools, law schools, graduate programs and future employers.
ACU chose EnterpriseSCHEDULE as their OpenVMS job scheduling solution and Jim "Sarge" Harlan is glad they did. As VMS administrator he is in charge of making sure that automated jobs run smoothly and without a hitch. That's where ISE's EnterpriseSCHEDULE and it's excellent support personnel come into play. Sarge uses EnterpriseSCHEDULE to automate all types of VMS tasks, from transferring files from his Banner application to monitoring system health and automating e-mail operations.
Sarge said that he "could not brag enough about the support services. I've never been put on hold and always spoke to a knowledgeable support representative right away." Then he stated something that you almost never hear about software support departments: "Sometimes support called me back a few days later with an even better solution to my problem."

With praise like that we wondered if the actual product EnterpriseSCHEDULE could live up to the kudos he heaped on the support department. His comments were equally enthusiastic. "EnterpriseSCHEDULE is EXCELLENT. It's one of the few products I've encountered that does what it says it's gonna do." Finally, Sarge commented on ISE's belief that customers are first no matter how big or how small you are: "The nice thing about ISE is they treat you like you are a big user, even if you're not".
